A tribute to my late grandmother. At The River Clarion.༄

8 pages of inkjet on vellum, with a custom transparent slipcase. Images from family photo albums and my mom's phone. Text from Mary Oliver's poem "At the River Clarion."

A tribute to my late grandmother. At The River Clarion.

An examination of impermanence, love, and loss. I overlaid text from Mary Oliver's "At The River Clarion" over images of my grandmother, whose ashes were scattered into the River Ganges in India. In both the poem and in Hindu mythology, rivers are symbols of death, passage, and fate.

There is very little documentation of my grandmother's life. There is no record of her birthday or even her true age. I made this to celebrate and cling onto the little things we still had. If I could have a single work of mine survive until the end of time, I would want it to be this one.
